Steve
Conley - My work comes out of the context of contemporary
media that includes photography, video, and computer generated imagery.
These sources, whether they reflect the erotic or violent aspects
of our world, are translated into a process of painting with the
purpose of bringing forth a complex and multi-layered image that
is also both structured and coherent. This is achieved by a method
of using an industrial type
sprayer with heavy acrylic paint and cut stencils. My paintings
have been featured in both Esquire and New York Magazine and are
part of a number of collections, including that of James A. Michener
at the University Museum in Austin, Texas and the Aldrich Museum
in Ridgefield, Connecticut.
Take exit #206 from. route #81 and follow route #374 east past
Elk Mountain 11 miles to Dimock Corners. There, turn left onto
state road #2034 and go exactly 1.3 miles. My gate is on the right
where you will see two green buildings up in the field.
