This year's studio tour is dedicated
to Margaret Dudek - 1946-2007. Peg's enthusiasm for the arts and
her fellow artists will be missed. She was a founding member of
the Artists' Open House Weekend.

Three of Peg's friends and her daughter
will be exhibiting in her honor and offering her work as well
as their own for sale:
Margaret
Dudek worked in encaustic painting, watercolor, pastel
and oils. Encaustic painting is an ancient method using hot beeswax
and pigments mixed and heated to fuse the surface and create a
glowing, flowing painting.
Linda Shupp will be showing
watercolors and pastels. Her work reflects a deep respect for
our local land and wildlife; from friendly chipmunks to black
bears, and delicate flowers to mighty trees. She creates images
that say this place is special. On Monday she will be demonstrating
pastel or watercolor painting.
Raquel Sweeny will be exhibiting
her watercolors.
Kathy Yulke will be showing
oils and pastels.
Kimmy Dudek works in three
dimensional mixed media sculpture utilizing clay, metal, cast
acrylic and wood. These pieces are influenced by North and South
American indigenous people, animals and nature, and reflect dream
images. She also works in "chimo", a traditional art
she learned while studying in Venezuela, which uses waterbased
sepia pigment made from tobacco.
The Dudeks' Poor Farm Studio is located near New Milford on Rte.
