Dorothea
Fitzgerald My love for the splendor of the Christmas Holidays and
the shear joy of creating things led me to making Santas some 20 years ago. Since
then I have been inspired to make Elves since they have such a mischievous nature
and of course Santa needs a helper! I also love Halloween characters and making
Witches. Witches have a lot of tricks up their sleeve and you may find them riding
a pig or pulling a wagon of ghosts!
My pieces have been sold at the American
Folk Art Museum in New York City and all over the United States, Bermuda, Hawaii
and Europe. They have also been used to decorate such places as the MGM Grand
Hotel in Biloxi, Mississippi. Reproduction
Santas from vintage postcards are also available. I love using vintage children's
toys and old tattered quilts as well as wools. Texture and character in the fabrics
I choose are as important to me as the story the piece tells.
Having lived
in Chester County all my life, we moved to Susquehanna County just before Christmas
in 2007 and love being surrounded by the peaceful countryside. We live outside
Nicholson, below Hop Bottom. I would love to talk to you about a piece that you
would like to have made just for you. Call or email me! dfitz34@gmail.com
