Jordan Taylor focuses on using materials that he processes or gathers himself. Hand processed and indigenous clays, as well as wood, oat straw and hay ashes are transformed by a wood flame into durable pottery suitable for daily use in kitchen, dining room or garden. Taylor specializes in large (40" H) jars and wall platters. Work will be exhibited in the refurbished haymow of a dairy barn up the hill from his studio. www.stonymeadowpottery.com

In 2007 Taylor began work on his first major sculptural project. Components of the "Stela Project" will be on display in Taylor's wood fired kiln while the kiln is firing. The six to seven day firing will include overlap all three days of the tour weekend. For more information visit www.jordantaylor.us

Taylor was invited to participate in "20+1: an invitational exhibition of artists who have contributed significantly to the field of ceramics" at the Northern Arizona University Art Museum in Flagstaff, AZ October-November of 2006.

Writing is also important to Taylor's creative life. Taylor received a 2005 Pennsylvania Council on the Arts: Arts Commentary award for the publication of a 40 page catalog to accompany the October-November 2005 exhibition Potter's Apprentice: Continuity and Mentorship in a Modern Tradition featuring twenty artists from four countries.

Taylor's work in clay and his writing have been featured in ceramics periodicals Studio Potter and Ceramics Monthly.
