DiGennaro - Wildflower Pottery - My name is Sharon
DiGennaro. I am a potter. My business name “Wildflower” was chosen
for my love of flowers. I was knee high to a grasshopper when
I first dove into the field next door to pluck dandelions for
my mother. She indeed sees me as a Wild flower, free and vibrant.
I have had my hands in clay for over twenty four years now, seventeen
of them as a functional potter. “If you were not a functional
potter, what would you be?” you ask. Why a “dysfunctional” potter
of course! And at the age of forty five that is what I have become.
I cannot be trusted to color within the lines. I know I “should”
be concerned with trends, orders, taxes, recessions, bookkeeping,
retirement funds, insurance, marketing and such, and yet I keep
finding myself in the studio squashing clay this way and that.
I am in awe of the creators work thru my hands. I guess I could
apply that same “God” energy to my taxes and perhaps in the end
I would have a retirement fund! I am noticing my remorse is not
what it used to be either! I rarely have a “cohesive” body of
work anymore. Instead, I am gifted with a plethora of “creative
flow” if you will. And as luck would have it most of my pieces
turn out to have a “functionability” after all.
Forget
rhyme or reason. Colors, movement, shapes are owned by no other
than my own living spirit. It is my greatest joy to offer my work
out to the world in all its' eclectic glory. I believe one should
always share their passion.
Sincerely, Sharon DiGennaro
